But the just-released Roma is perhaps the most exciting of all, as it establishes an entirely new bloodline within the Ferrari family. Ferrari calls the Roma a 2+ coupe and assumes the role of a luxury GT in the classic Ferrari tradition. The name tells a story the makers describe as la nuova dolce vita - 'the new sweet life'.Of particular interest is the shark-nosed front end, with a unique perforated grille - also in body color - that reinforces the holistic shape. At a time when most brands are desperate for identity with increasingly excessive and undignified grilles, Roma shows how good design can be achieved.

The surface of the hood is not disturbed by vents, and the body has no flaps or fins. Narrow LED headlights, complemented by thin taillights at the rear, provide illumination without distracting from the overall look. Beneath the deep trunk lid is a prominent rear diffuser, which on the Blu Corsa car - as brilliant as a morpho cylinder - was carbon fiber, a €9,950 option, one of many nice things that added a substantial €92,314 in options to the base price of €184,215. With destination taxes and before sales tax, Roma offers a taste of €279,689 of "the new sweet life. "The designers call the interior layout "integrated architecture," another way of saying it all flows together very nicely and creates the illusion of two cockpits: one for the driver and one for the passenger. Ferrari has always been at the forefront of creating the most beautiful cockpits, thanks largely to the design of the steering wheel - incorporating lessons learned from F1 motor racing - that keeps the driver's eyes on the road and not on the dashboard.

Roma delivers a high-quality driving experience that always entertains without becoming tiresome, and its design ensures that its classic aesthetic always remains in style. Others may have bolder shapes, more power or more wild interiors, but as a complete package, Roma indeed offers a taste of the new sweet life.
