Vision of tomorrow's luxxe

Audi's new concept car "skysphere" concerns an electrically powered roadster, with which the German automaker shows its vision of tomorrow's luxury segment. Thereby, the interior becomes an interactive space and the flexible platform allows the car to be used as a comfortable Grand Tourer as well as a sports car. The secret lies in the variable wheelbase. An advanced system makes it possible to extend that wheelbase and thus the length of the car itself by 250 mm. In Sports mode, the skysphere uses the short wheelbase (car length 4.94 meters); in Grand Touring mode, the length of the skysphere reaches 5.19 meters. At the same time, the pedals and steering wheel disappear, allowing you to enjoy an even more spacious interior. In this mode, the skysphere drives autonomously and, as an occupant, you can use the sound system and all the Internet functions offered by the concept car (for example, watching movies or video conferencing). The design of the skysphere was inspired by the Horch 853, a roadster that set the tone for luxury in the 1930s. Combined with the relatively low overall weight of 1,800 kg, the 465 kW/620 hp electric motor (maximum torque 750 Nm) enables acceleration from 0-100 km/h in four seconds. The maximum range is expected to be over 500 km.

LXRY LIST 2022

The annual book LXRY List 2022 casts a glance into the distance, where new opportunities shine. Entrepreneurship with a view to a better world. For example, Rewilding Europe is committed to helping disappearing species by making space for true wild nature. And De Apostelhoeve is taking advantage of global warming by growing wine on the hills of Limburg and gaining international recognition for it. In addition to these burgeoning economies, there is also a focus on sustainable initiatives. Like Cartier's new Tank Must, a watch that runs on solar energy. And a lamp against light pollution. But the list also includes an over-the-top hotel stay at Château Versailles. Après nous, le déluge? No, but even in the new world there may be room to enjoy and experience.
