CULINARY HIKING

Since sitting on a terrace is out of the question, a so-called foodwalk is the perfect solution to still do something fun with the nice weather. Even with Easter coming up, there is no reason to stay inside. There are many great initiatives that have put together all kinds of different culinary city walks along the best eating spots in the Netherlands. Text: Fleur de Jong

Le Food Walk

Le Food Walk Amsterdam organizes five types of foodwalks, which means there's something for everyone. There is one through Amsterdam Oost of 6.5 kilometers long. This route takes you past 'De Kas' and 'House of Watt'. For avid walkers, Le Food Walk offers the 'LAWA', which is short for Long Walk. The LAWA starts in Amsterdam East, goes through the Pijp area and ends in the center. Nice touch; this foodwalk also has a vegetarian version.

At each restaurant or bakery, the walker will be offered a culinary dish. This foodwalk will be organized on April 4 & 5 and a ticket is on sale for €52.50. A vegetarian edition will also be offered at this walk. Photo: East Side Easter Run

Tasty Walk

Fortunately, the foodwalk is not just reserved for our capital city. Tasty Walks organizes foodwalks throughout the Netherlands. The foodwalks organized by Tasty Walk takes the walker along six eating places. An advantage is that the route is not fixed and the walker can decide for himself in what order to visit the eating places. This foodwalk is being organized in Almere, Deventer, Utrecht, Haarlem and Maastricht, among other places. Photo: Tasty WalkClick here for an article on culinary delights at your own kitchen table.
