Balmain launches Stranger Things collection

Olivier Rousteing is praised by many as Creative Director of Balmain. At just 25 years old, he came to the helm of one of France's biggest fashion houses. But besides fashion, he also has a great love for the series Stranger Things. This even inspired him to launch a special collection that will be available starting this week.

Stranger Things is a science fiction horror series set in Hawkins, Indiana. After a boy disappears out of nowhere, his close-knit group of friends and family search for answers.

For the collection, Rousteing drew inspiration from the 1980s, in which the series is set. In his own words, he is fascinated by the absolute perfection of this era. The music, graphics, colors, hair, makeup but especially the choice of clothes in the series: ''I was born in 1985 and the four seasons of Stranger Things take place in America from 1983-1986, so of course none of this comes close to what I experienced growing up many years later in Bordeaux, France. But how can you not be impressed by all those incredible looks? People familiar with my catwalk collections know that I've always been fascinated by the unique pop spirit of the time.'' So when Netflix contacted the Creative Director, for a Limited Edition Balmain x Stranger Things, he didn't hesitate for a moment.

The pieces in the collection feature the bright colors familiar from the music videos and workout videos of the time, among other things. The wide sweaters of the so-called mallrats - the loitering youth in malls - of this era were also an inspiration for the collection.

Also a fan of the series? This week, the title of the fifth season was announced, namely, The Crawl. Furthermore, no information was shared about the date that the final season of Stranger Things will be seen.
