5x romantic getaways for you and your Valentine

Every year it is a challenge: finding a suitable gift to spoil your partner on Valentine's Day. Often it is up to the clichés their turn to make this day special, such as bunches of roses and perfumes. But in an oh so hectic time like today, it's all the more fun to get away from it all together. In these five European cities, you are guaranteed a romantic getaway for the two of you.Text: Patrick Stoffer

Rome

Delicious food, wonderful wines and a sophisticated, rich culture and history. The Italian city has everything you need to get away from it all with your loved one. Take an evening stroll in an illuminated city and fall in love (again). Everywhere you go and stand you will tantalize your taste buds with the most delicious traditional dishes and get to know the hospitality of the Italians. Of course, a visit to the Colosseum and Pantheon should not be missed.

Paris

The City of Love, no words need be added here. Champagne and oysters overlooking an illuminated Eiffel Tower at night and a romantic walk along the Seine are part of your visit to the city. Climb Montmartre, the artsy village where Dalí, Monet, Picasso and van Gogh once lived. At the Basilique du Sacré-Coeur, enjoy phenomenal views of the city, a magical moment for the two of you.

Vienna

Parading together in a carriage past all the beautiful architecture that the city has to offer, with the sound of horses clattering their hooves over the streets in the background. If you are in Vienna, then you should definitely not miss this romantic activity. Plenty of beautiful palaces in the Austrian capital that are a must visit. In the evening, dress your best and visit a musical performance, where legendary composers such as StrauĂź, Mozart, Beethoven and Haydn once performed.

Amsterdam

If you don't like crossing city borders, our own capital city is also a great option for a romantic staycation. A stroll along the canals, a visit to the Rijksmuseum and dinner at sophisticated restaurants like MOON in the A'DAM Tower with 360-degree views of the city, The Duchess and the hidden gem Westervilla. In this city villa on the edge of Westerpark, you can also spend the night right away.

Prague

Fairy tales do not exist only in Disney movies, but you can live this one yourself in Prague. The fairytale capital of the Czech Republic is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and its beautiful architecture and rich history are amazing. During your stay, visit Prague Castle, Charles Bridge and St. Vitus Cathedral. In the heart of the city is the spectacular astronomical clock, which shows not only the time, but also the position of the sun and moon. Want to see the city from a different angle? Then take a boat ride on the Moldau.
