Architectural masterpiece: Seoul Ring

London Eye: eat your heart out. For soon the world's largest, spokeless Ferris wheel will appear on Seoul's horizon. Meet this impressive structure. That is, if you are not afraid of heights.

As a new landmark for Seoul, the organization behind the so-called Seoul Ring investigated several locations. It took some searching, but eventually Haneul Park was chosen. For example, the view of the city here is said to be fantastic.

The spokeless wheel will be as high as 591 meters. However, the advanced design comes with challenges. Thus, the city consulted both domestic and international experts to ensure safety and environmental friendliness.

There's a smell to that

The structure not only serves as entertainment, but will also contain a cultural complex that will allow visitors to learn more about the history of the area. For example, the park where the Seoul Ring will be located has long been a garbage dump. Between 1978 and 1993, an average of 3,000 trucks a day unloaded trash here. This eventually resulted in a mountain of garbage 98 meters high. The site has since been transformed into an ecological park where, as the icing on the cake, the Seoul Ring will be built.

Before you want to book tickets right away: the Ferris wheel is expected to be finished in 2025. Until then, you can enjoy the drawings in advance.Â
