Alle kleuren van de regenboog…

At MASTERS EXPO, BMW already presented its latest flagship; the all-electric i7. But at the brand, technical feats follow one another in rapid succession. Last week in Las Vegas, the world was introduced to the futuristic i Vision Dee. Fancy a change of color on your car one morning? No problem, as this model features 32 different...
BMW Group

The name "Dee" stands for Digital Emotional Experience, and that, according to BMW, is exactly its goal: to create an even stronger connection between people and their cars in the future. Indeed, digital functions in the future will go far beyond the level of voice control and driver assistance systems we know today, according to the brand.

And so the i Vision Dee proves that. It starts already outside the car, with a customizable welcome scenario of graphics and a combination of light and sound effects. The headlights and closed BMW grille form a so-called "phygital," - a fusion of physical and digital- image on a uniform surface, allowing it to display the car's different facial expressions. In this way, the BMW i Vision Dee can talk to people while visually expressing moods such as joy, surprise or approval. Very handy for next time someone cuts you off antisocially again... In addition, the technical marvel can even project an avatar of the driver on the side windows.

Infinite variety

Last year, BMW already showed a model with so-called e-ink, which allowed you to choose black, white and gray as colors for the exterior of your car. But now, for the first time in the world, the i Vision Dee thus features a color version of e-ink technology.

Because the body surface of the BMW is divided into 240 e-Ink segments, each controlled separately, you can create an almost infinite variety of patterns within seconds.

Although the brand new concept car is not yet on sale, BMW underlines the importance of digitalization for the next product generations with this model and, in their own words, they are taking another step towards the NEUE CLASS.
