Here you can enjoy the different types of cheese (fondue) with carrot, cauliflower, radish, nachos and tortellini with friends or family. Not a cheese lover? No problem. You will find Smelt in the cozy Negen Straatjes. They had been neighbors across the street for more than a quarter of a century: a brown literary café and a cheese specialty store filled from floor to ceiling with cheese. Café De Doffer and De Kaaskamer van Amsterdam in the Runstraat, De 9 Straatjes. Both are household names in the center of Amsterdam. Since January 2022, both businesses have merged into Restaurant Smelt.

At the corner of Plompetorengracht and Wittevrouwenstraat, bakers' blood has been flowing through the veins since the eighteenth century.
