The Dropout

This podcast is about the life of Elizabeth Holmes and her company Theranos. The story is based on the rise and fall of the young Silicon Valley entrepreneur who was first called the "successor to Steve Jobs. In its heyday, she raised nearly €1 billion in investments from the Walton family (Walmart) and media tycoon Rupert Murdoch, among others. In the podcast series The Dropout, then-employees, investors and patients recount their experience with the company and the massive damage Holmes did. The Theranos founder was charged with multiple criminal offenses where she all pleaded "not guilty.

Inventing Anna

The popular Netflix series Inventing Anna delves into the true story of Anna Delvey, aka Anna Sorokin. The young woman poses as a wealthy German heiress who wants to set up her Anna Delvey Foundation, an exclusive society, in New York City. She worms her way into New York high society and manages to secure several major investors. The only thing Anna does not tell you: she has no assets of €60 million at all, is not a German heiress and hops from hotel to hotel on borrowed money....

Swindled: The Gamechanger

Australian Belle Gibson fooled not only her hundreds of thousands of followers, but also Australia's most prestigious publishers, Sillicon Valley tech companies and even her own environment by telling them that multiple organs were affected by cancer, but that she was effectively treating them herself through diet, exercise and alternative therapies. Gibson is the author of the app The Whole Pantry and its subsequent cookbook. In 2015, she admitted she had no cancer at all.

The Puppet Master

In this list, The Puppet Master: Hunting the Ultimate Conman is certainly not to be missed. One of the most famous and thoughtful conmen in the world, Robert Freegard, left many victims broke . Without showing the slightest hint of remorse, several families ended up bankrupt. The three-part true crime documentary features a number of stories told by friends and family of Robert's victims.
